Liebster Award Nomination

I’m excited to have been nominated for a Liebster award by Hannah Sundae and Flashes of Clarity! Thanks for the nomination, it’s nice to feel like I am slowly becoming a member of the blogging community. I had never heard of the award before, but I think it’s a lovely way to welcome new bloggers and help each other!

The rules of the Liebster Award are:

  • Thank and link the person who nominated you
  • Answer the questions given by the nominator (in my case there were two sets of questions so I’ve picked my favourites!)
  • Nominate 11 other bloggers who have less than 200 followers and link them
  • Create 11 new questions for the nominees to answer
  • Notify all nominees via social media/blogs

I’ve answered a mix of questions from Hannah and Ari:

1. Tell me about the best place you’ve ever visited.
Iceland, my mother’s home country, is the most beautiful and inspiring place I’ve ever seen. It has  amazing volcanos, geysers, waterfalls, hot springs, and rather eccentric people. I definitely need to write a post about it!

2. Fruit or veg?

Veg! I think I could live without fruit, but I feel really unhealthy if I don’t have any veggies. I like to add pan fried courgettes or onions to every meal I cook! It would be really hard to give up mangoes, blueberries and strawberries though.

3. Where would you most like to visit?

I am dying to visit Japan! Tokyo looks amazing. I went to Seoul in South Korea last year and that was so much fun, but I think Japan would be even more fascinating. I would do so much shopping there! I bet I would go all Hello Kitty-crazy and then regret buying lots of kawaii stuff as soon as I get back to grey London.

4. What is your favourite genre of books?
I don’t really have a favourite genre, but a couple of books I’ve really enjoyed recently are Thinking, Fast and Slow by behavioural economist Daniel Kahneman and Lean In by Sheryl Sandberg (role model!).

5. Choose 5 songs/pieces of music to relax to.
I’ll do better than that! Here’s my ‘chill out’ playlist on Spotify – it’s the perfect soundtrack to a long, relaxing bath. It features Icelandic artist Sin Fang, one of my favourites.

6. Jeans, leggings or skirt/dress?
Never leggings! I probably wear jeans the most out of laziness, but I love wearing skirts! My jeans are all from All Saints, and my favourite skirts and dresses are from Sandro.

7. Do you prefer the country or city?
I’m a city girl, no doubt about it! I love living in London as well as travelling to other cities like Madrid, Milan or Singapore. I get bored after too long in the countryside. The one exception is the countryside in Iceland – it is so beautiful and is packed with interesting wildlife!

8. Which car would you most like to own/drive?
I keep lusting after Nissan Figaros. They are pastel coloured cars that look old and retro but are actually from the 90s. Here is one I posted on my Instagram when I went to Columbia Road flower market.

9. What is your biggest accomplishment?
Going to Zambia when I was 16 and teaching local kids aged 4 to 19 english and geography was a huge challenge. It was not an easy task but it was definitely very rewarding and it’s an experience that I will always cherish.

10. Which extinct animal would you bring back?
Probably a dinosaur, and not one that would eat me alive. Triceratops would look pretty cool!

11. Who are your favourite bloggers?
Wishwishwish, whatoliviadid, Garance Dore.

I nominate the following lovely bloggers for the award – they all have under 200 followers, either on Twitter or on Bloglovin, so please pay them a visit!

Emily from Ahem, It’s Emme

Beth from Bethelouise

Claire from Technicolour Dreamer

Here are the questions for my nominees: 1. What’s your favourite recipe? 2. If you could learn any skill, what would it be? 3. What’s your favourite film? 4. What country would you most want to travel to? 5. What is the best place you have ever visited? 6. What is your all-time favourite beauty product? 7. What is your biggest accomplishment? 8. What is the weirdest chat-up line you’ve heard someone use? 9. What’s a book that you would recommend? 10. Who are your favourite bloggers? 11.
